Day 284 (Sunday 14th September 08)

Up and moved on early from the car park so don't get a fine! Headed upto Hervey Bay. Once we arrived found somewhere to make some lunch and then went for a look around Hervey Bay. Played some cards and went for a wander on the beach. Went across to use the internet and charge up the phone. Managed to get on Skype again before she closed up. Went off to a car park to cook ourselves some food and then started to bed down for the night. Just as we had finished sorting out all the curtains and about to shut up a Swedish guy came over and said that he had heard you weren't allowed to park up around here and would definitely be moved on. He then went onto say that he knew of a dirt track that was a bit scary but he had stayed there for four other nights with some other friends. They didn't want to stay there on their own so did we want to follow. We had a bit of a think in the end deciding we would take a look as they seemed ok. Once we were following them out into the middle of nowhere and down the dirt track decided that this was probably a stupid idea! We knew we probably shouldn't have followed them so said we would find somewhere else and turned around quick! Went back down to the Esplande to find somewhere for the night and decided on somewhere that looked quiet. Unfortunately just as we were dropping off a security guard turned up and told us we had to move on otherwise we would be fined, apparently anywhere apart from along the Esplande would be fine. It was now quite late so we quickly had a drive around and managed to find another car park where hopefully no one would mind us staying.
