Day 141 (Friday 25th April 08)

Packed away our final bits into our bags and went and checked out. Had something to eat and headed along to the jetty at about 10 to 12 so we were ready for our speeboat trip back to the mainland. After we were picked up collected some more people and then we were on our way back. Not a bad journey but he stopped when we were close to the mainland to fill up with petrol. Just out in the middle of the sea with the engine still running! Got a taxi from Kuala Besut to Kota Bharu as they had told us at Abdul's that was the best way to do it. Soon thinking maybe it was safer being in buses with the scary driving that we had to sit through for about an hour! Got dropped off and walked around for a while to try and find a place to stay. Our backpacks are very heavy at the moment so we were glad when we found somewhere! Went for a wander to see what was around. Everywhere was very quiet and most places closed as this is their main prayer day over here. Went to use the internet and got most of our backlog of photos uploaded as the internet very cheap here! Walked around trying to find somewhere to eat which wasn't easy. In the end went to this very strange restaurant that said it was vegetarian but wasn't. We also ordered sizzling seafood which was acutally just sizzling vegetables! By now it was quite late and headed back to the hotel as getting lots of looks as we were walking around! On the way up our road saw a little kitten sat amongst broken glass in the road. Em only stopped for 2 seconds to see if it was ok but that was it, it followed us the rest of the way to the hotel. Both found it hard to leave it outside when it was desperate to come in with us.

Day 142 (Saturday 26th April 08)

Got up and headed out to find something to eat. This proved to be quite difficult! Eventually found somewhere. Then carried on walking around to try and find Skype so that we would know where it was for later. After we had done this made our way to the bus station to book our tickets for tomorrow. Passed a photo shop so asked if they could develop our underwater camera films to CD. Found out they could so said we would be back with them later. Went on and booked our bus tickets for the overnight bus to Penang. Back to the hotel to pick up the films and then back to give them in to be developed. Mark had decided he wanted to buy some hair clippers as wanting another hair cut now so after ages of searching and going in many different shops found some for just over 3 pounds! Then back to use the internet to update our blog, sort out photos and get the photos backed up to DVD. Picked up the underwater films and back to use the internet to call lots of people on Skype! After we had finished we were very hungry so stopped in at Pizza Hut on the way back to our hotel!

Day 143 (Sunday 27th April 08)

Had a lazy morning today as once we checked out we didn't have anywhere to go until our 10pm bus. Managed to stay in the room until 1pm, checked out and asked to leave our bags. Went for a walk to find some food and found a nice deli which did very good food. Then onto the bank to get money changed and to the very cheap internet yet again! Spent the rest of the afternoon in the internet! Went to Pizza Hut again for some food as couldn't be bothered to try and find somewhere else we could eat as quite difficult here! Back to where we were staying to get our bags and wait until 9:30pm when we got a taxi to the bus station. Arrived at the packed bus station and were glad we hadn't arrived any earlier as we got quite a lot of attention. Got on the bus and were nicely surprised to see how big and comfy the seats looked! Hopefully we will be able to get some sleep!
