Day 129 (Sunday 13th April 08)

Up early to be ready for the minibus from Taman Negara to Jerantut. Not a bad journey and only took about an hour. Spoke to the guy when we arrived and he said he hadn't been able to book our bus to Kuantan as the only one that was free was 5pm and it was now 10am so we didn't really want to wait around all day. He said instead we could take a public bus to Termerloh and then pick up a long distance bus from there to Kuantan. We decided to do this as thought it didn't sound too bad so he dropped us to the bus station to pick up the public bus. Felt a bit intimidated as we were waiting there for the bus as we drawing quite a lot of attention. Wasn't long before we left. The bus stopped regularly along the way and it was soon very full of all the locals. At one point this guy got on that must have had some kind of mental illness as he was acting very strange and started pretend shooting out of the window. We started to feel a bit uncomfortable being the only foreigners on the bus. Luckily the ride only took about an hour and we were at the bus station for the long distance buses. Lugged our bags inside and booked our next tickets again everyone watching us very carefully and one beggar eyeing up our stuff. Another couple of hours on a nicer bus and we arrived in Kuantan. Then got a taxi up to Cherating to the nicer beaches. Got dropped along by the beach and walked along with our bags to the travel agents to ask about a nicer hotel around as Em wanted to treat Mark for his birthday. Spoke to The Legend Resort after going to look at a couple of places and sounded like a good deal so got dropped up there. Were very happy when we saw the nice hotel. Big room with air-con, TVs, hot water etc! Very nice and a massive swimming pool! Chilled out after our long journey and then went for a swim. After went for some nice food. Noticed some washing machines for guests to use so thought we would use it as a good opportunity to get our washing done. Spent the rest of the evening going backwards and forwards to the laundry room. Also watched a film and ordered pop-corn!

Day 130 (Monday 14th April 08) - Mark's Birthday

Mark woke to Em with a wrapped birthday present with a lovely little note on it. Excitedly Mark opened the present almost missing the note on the paper! Inside was an amazing Mido watch which he had already chosen in Bangkok. Went down for a massive buffet breakfast and made sure filled to the brim, then went for a lay by the pool. Enjoyed crisping ourselves with refreshing swims for a while and then decided it was time we tried a foot massage. Em had a foot massage first as Mark was unsure about it all, then Mark was up. Both said it was painful and don't know that we would have one again anytime soon, but he did seem to pick up on some problems with our stomachs and backs?! We then had some cake which Em had craftily got a candle put into it. However we couldn't light it in the wind. Enjoyed that very much and then went back to the room for a shower. Downstairs for a lovely meal. Em had a salad to start and then salmon for main. Mark had a plate of chicken wings which were loads to much and then salmon as well. Both enjoyed a nice Mai Thai cocktail with our food. Then went to wait to be picked up to see the baby turtles being released. However when we got there they didn't know anything about us coming and no release was going to take place! A bit annoyed as we were both looking forward to it. Saw some baby turtles in a water tank and then he rang Travelpost to pick us up. Dropped back at the hotel and got ourselves ready to move on tomorrow.
