We are moving on to Pompei tomorrow. We've not really had good luck here in Florence so we are looking forward to leaving. We were shattered and my tummy still hurt so we were having a lazy day. Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not for LONG!!!!!!! (I'm still angry so expect exclamation marks).
Paul went to a local cafe to get some wifi, and I told him to email me at a certain time if there was anything interesting happening, then I would turn on my data roaming and read it was that point. He'd messaged me telling me to come down to the cafe ASAP. I wasn't wearing any make up so boshed some mascara and went with sunglasses because it seemed urgent. When I got there he told me there were transactions on our prepaid credit card that we didn't remember.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were for a French train company, a Dutch train company and a shop in Belgium. 4 transactions. Totalling €400. >:((((((((((
Ironically they had all been carried out the day before, making our bad day even worse.
We can't work out where someone got our card details from but we have emailed fair fx and they have put the fraud department to it. Unfortunately it is the weekend so we aren't expecting anything to really be done until Monday hopefully.
Fortunately we have a credit card with us but it just makes life a lot more complicated.
We had booked a pizza and gelato making course for this evening, but we have had to cancel this as money is now very tight (we have €100 to last us for now).
This past week has been very depressing for a few reasons, but this really was the stupid rotten cherry on top of a s***ty cake.
It was about 11:30 and we were getting ready to go to sleep. Then lo and behold there was a mosquito flying about in the room. We needed to have one small victory to end the week with. It literally took us about an hour and a half to kill the mosquito - and we don't even know if we managed it. Paul trapped it in a cup and thought he was quick enough to lift the cup and kill it. I told him not to but I think the anger went to his head and he tried. Needless to say he missed it! We sprayed it with deodorant and it seemed to have disappeared. It may have died or it may have gone to get its friends but we are leaving tomorrow so good riddance!!!!
What a day.
