Today we are in Pisa. It is extremely hot this week, between 36-38 degrees every day. Pisa is about an hour away on the train, which was grotty and absolutely stank of BO. We walked from the station to the Leaning Tower, and stopped off for lunch at a traditional restaurant on the way. We had cocktails of course and a sundae after lunch. We had ham and cheese omelettes.
We sat in the shadow of the tower for about an hour, watching lots of Asians take the standard pose of 'holding it up'. We've noticed a lot of Asians on our trip, and we have decided next year we should go to China because it will be empty! They're all here!!
Then I took a picture of Paul doing that pose from the side of the tower we were on. It looks absolutely rubbish haha. The tower itself is a lot smaller than I imagined, and you can go up it. We decided not to, the queue was very long as only 40 people can go up at a time.
We moved to the other side of the tower and saw that this side was much better and you could really see the tilt of it! We took a selfie in the background but Paul was squinting so it turned out to be the funniest photo of the trip so far.
We walked back to the station and got the train home. We went to a traditional pizzeria on our street. I had tomato and alioli, and it only cost €5. The kitchen was in the centre of the restaurant and there was only one chef so it felt very homely. Also there was wifi which was a massive bonus.
