Today was a travel day from Bern to Brescia, which can only mean one thing - PROBLEMS. The day started off well, noon check out, a Starbucks to pass the time as our train was at 13:30. While we were at the station we went to get drinks from a Kiosk shop, and found a 'Cannabis Iced Tea' - as well as blue fanta. Obviously we bought both. The iced tea tasted just like lemon!
I don't know if you have ever had the pleasure of using Trenitalia, but if you do, don't. Inter rail in Italy requires you to book a reservation on trains in advance, at about €10 per person per journey. Whilst we are in Italy we have two bases, Brescia and Florence- a week in each. This way we have organised day trips from these places instead of staying in each city for one or two nights. We booked and paid for all of our trains for this week about 10 days ago. By 'we' I mean ME. It was a difficult process on the website, and was very complicated. After finally doing it, we paid €230 in total. Fortunately, I screenshotted the confirmation of purchase on the website. Whilst on the train to Milan, we realised we hadn't been sent a confirmation email of our tickets, which houses a code that is needed on each of our trains. On the website it said without this code we would be treated as though we had no ticket, and would have to pay a full price ticket (around 80€ and a fine). Fun times.
I emailed Trenitalia explaining the situation and they didn't reply for about 4 days, and were completely useless even then. Fortunately nobody came to check our tickets and we had been panicking non stop to no avail.
We arrived in Brescia which is between Milan and Verona, and again is not the best area to be staying. The hotel is really nice, probably the nicest we have stayed in. We have AIR CON!!! The heatwave means that everyday it reached at least 35 degrees,so this is heavenly. I don't really know how we'll survive without it.
