In about 1860 Capt Fawcett had some land in Pinjarra. He wanted more so he went over the scarp and took up land at 'Mokine' and the track he used to get there is now called the Capt Fawcet Track.
Andrew and I went to Dwellingup to start the track. We stayed overnight at Nanga Townsite. There has been a few improvements in the area. At Baden Powell you can book a spot in the new camp ground. It is on the other side of the road from the river but it has all the amenities you could want, they are also doing some work at Nanga. We stayed at Nanga townsite and since the fire ban ended at midnite we had a small fire....after midnite of course.
The track is pretty easy. (for my mates it is South Junction Form, King Jarrah Form and Driver Rd). The track is a mixture of fast 4 wheel drift corners and walking pace sections. It was VERY dusty today and would be heaps of fun if there was a little rain and some sections would be almost impassable with a lot of rain, or late in the season.
I'd like to do the track again, after some rain, But I would only do the first half and return. The second half was just big wide gravel roads. I did the whole lot in 2 wheel drive but it would be a different story in winter with some rain. Andrew did the whole lot in 4wd, cos he could.
