I know I said I was going to Martil but it just didn't happen. To get there I had to come to Tetouan then take taxi so I am staying here for two nights and take taxi to the beach from here.

Tetouan is in the Rif mountains and is the heart of the cannabis industry here. This place is home to the largest area of cultivation of cannabis in the world. Wait for it! 1340 square KILOMETRES. That's right 1340 square kilometres of Mary Jane.42% of the worlds production is here and most of it legal. The stats are mind blowing, if you want more google it.

When I arrived I would have used a taxi but for a change they were not around, just when I want one. So I walked to the hotel. I thought it was about 2km, that's why I was going to use a taxi, I didn't know it was all up hill. Uuuppppp hilllll. Seriously it was steep going. Tetouan is built on the side of a couple of hills so there is a lot of up and down hill around town.

I had a look around town this morning. The medina is pretty cool but every street is a market. There are streets of plastic toys, I could have gone crazy but I still got some weeks to go. There were also streets full of second hand stuff, tools, shoes and clothes and the usual fruit and veg.

I got bored this arvo so I got a cab to the beach. It turns out it is cheaper to stay here and get a cab to the beach than to stay in Martil. The beach is not great. I was expecting better from a Mediterranean beach, but I will still go again tomorrow. It is my last chance till I get to the Atlantic coast at Agadir.

Well there goes my day at the beach......it's raining.
I've been trying to see if I can get to the Canary Islands from here. ALL the flights go through Spain from here but I can get direct back to Casablanca? Go figure? They are crazy expensive. It looks like it would cost me over $1000 for 3 days there.
