The Castaways
After a night on a busy part of town Ao Nang, we headed for the nicest part of Krabi as Ao Nang didn't have much of a beach. Railey bay is only reached by boat and we ended up in a longtail boat (like in the pictures) with our backpacks and the sea was very rough and the boat was falling around. Scary. But we made it there fine and did the travellers thing of staying at the cheap side - the east and walking to the nice side to the beach on the west. The beach was really pretty with all the massive limestone cliffs but the tide was in until about 1.30 so you couldn't really sunbathe until after that. But the sea was really fun, there were massive waves that literally took us away. Funny!! We didn't really do much here either. We just sunbathed for a few days and then the weather turned a bit bad so we had 2 days of staying in our restaurant playing cards and watching films to entertain us (and Animal Planet - we know a lot about snakes in America now!) One thing we did do was go to a free show one evening that had a fire show - very scary as he let go of the stick and it flew into the crowd and landed on our table - I was happy when the show ended after that because he let it go again but this time in the other direction so we really did just fear for our lives. After this was a bit of Thai boxing. That was quite fun as it really wasn't very violent and they didn't seem to hurt each other so I didn't mind that. Then there was this crazy cobra show where this kid played with 3 snakes and put one in his mouth and then another man was teasing a massive cobra and was kissing it. These people really are crazy and I think would do anything for tourism!!! So after a great stay in Krabi we headed to the world class island of Koh Phi Phi, just a short hour 1/2 hour ride away. Looking forward to this as everyone we have met has loved it here.
