The Castaways
After a short journey from Krabi we arrived at the world class island of Koh Phi Phi. Once again we arrived at the pier and it was seriously raining, so we spent a while looking for accommadation whilst getting soaked. All fun and games though. Found some really nice accommadation right on the beach front so we literally could roll out of bed onto the beach. Our room even had free water and free maid service - the first so far. The island wasn't as amazing as we expected. We took a tour and saw some pretty places - the waters out further in the sea was really clear and really pretty but the water at the usual beaches were quite murky and dirty. We did the tourist trip to see Maya Bay where the film "The Beach" was filmed. We had to literally climb up all these really sharp rocks just to walk through a jungle to get there. Funny as the tide was coming in and it was really hard to swim away from the killer rocks. But it was a good afternoon to see more of the island. Other then this day trip we literally just sunbathed during the days. We did go to a half moon party on the beach that had a massive fire show, a magician, live music and party games. We also went to a Reggae Bar where there was Thai Boxing. Although this was fixed again it was a lot more violent then before. They even kitted up the tourists and let them fight in the ring. Could you imagine?? It was carnage. Some took it really seriously and really went for it and others just were too scared to get hit. Funny to be an onlooker though. Found the smallest yet busiest restaurant so far. Cheap but really good portions and the friendliest owners ever. One of the owners was a retired Thai boxer. But it was interesting to hear the stories of the destruction the tsunami caused. His restaurant had all different tables and chairs because they were donated to him so he could rebuild his restaurant and I guess he has kept them as a reminder. But then there was a few days of bad weather so we decided to leave and look for some sun in Phuket.
