USA Travels
Have just got back from a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Amazing how people survived the American onslaught. Had a meal in the local market last night. I passed on the fried frog with noodles AND THE BOILED PIGS STOMACH AND ROASTED TROTTERS but I watched Noody (our guide) create her own meal on the table in front of her on a paraffin wax burner while someone else cooked beef on a tile. Very atmospheric. Have just called into the fresh beer joint next to the hotel. 1330 and everyone ******. Guy on a guitar accompanied by chopsticks and spoons in a beer bottle. Everyone wanted to shake hands. Ruth spent several minutes counting her fingers afterwards. AND I PUT ANTI BACTERIAL GEL ON MY HANDS IVE NEVER SEEN SUCH MUCK Gave them a rousing rendition of Jingle Bells. May give up the day job! Now going to look for lunch and a walk by the river. People leave us again this evening as we travel on the Mekong Delta tomorrow before entering Cambodia. THERE WILL ONLY BE 5 OF THE ORIGINAL GROUP LEFT, THE OTHERS HAVE BEEN EITHER A TAD BORING OR A PAIN IN THE BUTT - NOTE THE CANADIAN INFLUENCE ON MY SLANG.
