USA Travels
Great day back on the Mekong visiting islands and being rowed along narrow tributaries. Horse and cart ride to a restaurant for lunch. Looking at local honey making and petting Hissing Sid a six year old Python. He eats one chicken a week. Feathers and all AND ONE TOURIST A YEAR. Fortunately he had been fed three days ago. They apparently live into their 80s and by that time are too large to handle. Probably bad tempered too! WE WATCHED THEM MAKING ALL SORTS OF SWEET THINGS WITH COCONUTS, INCLUDING CARAMEL SWEETS WRAPPED IN RICE PAPER, EXCEPT I DIDNT TAKE OFF THE WRAPPER SO I ATE THE OUTSIDE PAPER AS WELL! We had a great last evening in Saigon starting at the beer hall and moving on for an Italian. We all got a bit soggy with the free proscecco and limoncello. Not to mention the wine. Ruth had trouble sorting the bill out but that's another story. Early start this morning -on a public bus to Cambodia. Crossed the Mekong on a ferry and are now in Pnom Penh. In an hour we go on a Rickshaw tour of the city. Fortunately the traffic is a bit less manic or will this be yet another time I feel we are taking our lives in our hands......
