USA Travels
WE ARE FINALLY CRUISING THROUGH/IN/AROUND HA LONG BAY. IT WAS TOUCH AND GO AS TO WHETHER WE WIULD SAIL AS IT WAS REPORTEDLY TOO WINDY AND THE BOAT MAY HAVE CAPSIZED, HOWEVER IT IS CALM AND WE MADE IT. THE VIEWS ARE PHENOMENAL. WE HAVE JUST FINISHED LUNCH AND IN ABOUT 30 MINS WE'LL BE STOPPING FOR A CAVE TRIP. DAVID IS TRYING TO DO THE WHOLE TOP GEAR THING IN 30 MINS. I AM DISCOVERING THAT SILK CAN BE BOTH WARMING AS WELL AS COOLING. IT'S STILL A BIT CHILLY BUT THE SUN IS TRYING TO SHINE, WE OVER-NIGHT ON THS BOAT Had a great banquet last night which ended in some dancing and a few beers. Unbeknown to us the crew were also having a party and several of our party were woken by one of the crew honking over the side.Ruth says this was quieter than my snoring. It was very cold overnight but our silk liners kept us warm enough. This morning the sun is out and we have had two breakfasts at 0730 and another at 1030 so we could be on the road by 11. The views have been stunning - must be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Everyone fell asleep on the bus on the way back in spite of a 30 mile patch or road that they seem to be improving all at once. Now back in Hanoi and have stocked up on food and beer for the14 hour journey on the sleeper train to Hue, the ancient capital of Vietnam. I had wondered if by now we would be getting a bit worn down by the constant travel, packing etc. but no.......bring it on!
