An almost midnight departure from Melbourne, a hiccup with our transfer in Hong Kong and we finally arrived in Seoul mid afternoon. A couple of cold beers with deep fried chicken and we called it a relatively early night. Next morning we jumped on the subway headed to N Seoul Tower for some city views. A cable car ride to the base of the tower and then a lift ride with a sound and light delivered us to the observation platform. Typical Seoul haze but the view was still worth it. Another subway ride to Heunginjimun Gate and a section of the old Seoul Wall. Not quite the Geeat Wall of China but impressive nevertheless. Some time relaxing by the Cheonggyechean Stream was a pleasant way to finish the afternoon. On the way back to the hotel we found a small back street with numerous genuine Korean restaurants which solved the question of where to have dinner. After dinner we wrapped up the evening with some time at the beautifully floodlit Deoksugung Palace. The following morning we made our way to Gwangjang Market, one of the largest in Seoul. Certainly a bustling place. Early afternoon we met the rest of our cycling group and c9mmenced a walking tour around some of the main sites of Seoul. Unfortunately it was somewhat interrupted by heavy continuous rain, so after another great Korean dinner we arrived back at the hotel very wet. Tomorrow we get on the bikes for our first day of riding.
