Day 26. Breakfast at our cabin and then down to Carnarvon town beach for some fishing. No luck here so then onto the sandy mouth of the mighty Gascoyne River and the old timber structures but still no luck. Wind picking up again. So we decided to give up fishing for the day as we have already caught so many huge fish on this trip and head for the fab Vietnamese bakery for lunch. Many Vietnamese have settled in Carnarvon and have vegetable farms irrigated from the river, growing mainly tomatoes. A visit to the giant telescope dish outside town which played a key role in communicating with the first moon landing in 1969. Our afternoon spent reading and researching at our cabin, finally secured some forward accommodation at popular towns of Denham on Shark Bay and Kalbarri. Also booked another fishing charter for Friday out of Monkey Mia into Shark Bay. Looking forward to seeing the WA wildflowers in season over the next week, should be spectacular. Dinner tonight again at the Carnarvon Hotel, very busy with lots of footballers playing up after winning their grand final. Chicken parmies huge and very tasty. A short drive out to the harbour to see the prawn trawlers all lit up at their dock, they must be going out later tonight to catch tiger prawns and scallops in Shark Bay. Warm today 24 degrees but very windy.
