Day 25. We leave Quobba Station this morning with mixed feelings. We have enjoyed the rustic cottage and wild remote location but the wind and huge seas have not been favourable to fishing. We head south again and stop at the Blowholes, they are roaring today. Whales close by and we get a good view. Up to the lighthouse for a fabulous view of the coast, then we are off to Carnarvon a small town on the mighty but dry Gascoyne River where we will spend a couple of nights. After lunch we went fishing in the creek down from the boat harbour but no luck this time. Paul caught a large tailor last visit here. So many large prawn trawlers in port, probably they cannot go out into Shark Bay due to the heavy seas. Back at our cabin we wash off the Quobba dust and bore water and head down to the Carnarvon Hotel for a beer and dinner of chilli prawn pasta. Distance today 83km. Mild but very windy 20 degrees.
