I visited Colonial Williamsburg in May of 2005 with my sisters Patti and Lorraine and we had a really good time together but I always said that I would love to come back here with my husband Don as he loves American History so much. Wouldn't you know 8 years later my wish came true.
My experience of Colonial Williamsburg with Don was completely different than with my sisters. Even thought both times I came here May, 8 years ago there weren't any reenactments and we spent most of our time touring the houses and museums. However this time there were reenactments every day and we spent most of our time attending speeches by Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Patrick Henry.
We had a 3 day pass and the first day all of the speeches and reenactments were set in the time period prior to 1776 So if you asked a question and it was about something that occurred after 1776 then they would act like they didn't know what you were talking about because it had not occurred yet, they were very clever with their answers for example if you asked about a battle that hadn't occurred yet, they would say that they hadn't heard of that and act shocked about the news and want to know who told you that....
The next day we visited was 1776 and after... So the speeches and reenactments were different based on 1776 time frame. It was really cool how they got you caught up into what was going on, you really had to know your history and all those people were very knowledgeable.
I will post some pictures and I'm sure Don could talk for hours on this subject so he may add to this blog later.

Patti Fantastic..how things change. Glad it was different for you. Sounds better now. I thought it was great before. Also glad you got to share with Don. I want to go to DC with Richard someday. Anxious for your input on Sturbridge Village in MA if you go there. New adventures. So much fun. Have Don post too, like to hear what his view is
