On Saturday we ventured down to Jacksonville Landing which is located in downtown Jacksonville on the St. John's riverfront. It was a beautiful day watching the boats go up and down the river. There are quite a few shops at the landing but we were surprised to see how many were closed or out of business. I guess Jacksonville is struggling to maintain and promote their downtown as are a lot of other cities. Don said Jacksonville is called the "City of Bridges...

Spent the day at Jacksonville Beach. It's the first day that its been warm enough to even consider going to the beach. The water is about 60 but it felt good on our feet. We walked out on the pier and watched people fish. The 3 guys at the end of the pier pulled in 4 sharks in about 20 minutes. They were saying on the news that a species of sharks are migrating north right off of the coast...so maybe these were part of that migration. They were all the same ...

Spent the afternoon at Tillie K Fowler Park, a 509 acre park right across the street from NASJAX main gate. It's all woods with several nature trails, a tower, nature center, picnic area, playground and a huge dog park. It used to be an army post in 1917 for horse soldiers. Visited St. Augustine today. Took the hop-on hop-off train tour which gave us a good overview of America's oldest city. It was a little cool in the morning (50's) riding the open air train. There was a couple in front of us with just shorts and tee shirts on. They were freezing and she told her husband that they were getting off on the next stop no matter what it was! Well it ended up being the winery at 10am, I guess they got warmed up there (it's always 5:00) ...

Rain, rain go away! Looks like heavy rain here for today and tomorrow. We have had over an inch already since midnight.
