We noticed the sign for Crooked River State Park 4 miles so we thought that we should check it out while we are still here in King's Bay. When i saw the name of the park, I expected a small windinig river, but actually it was huge and winded through the salt marshes. Started out the day with a hearty breakfest at one of Jill's favorite places, Craker Barrel. Watching Jill eat grits is one of the great pleasures of my life? After breakfest we proceed on to the pier at St. Marys for the ferry ride to Cumberland Island which is about 45 minutes around the marshes or about 10 minutes as the crow flies. We spent the day in Savannah with my best friend Cindy from 7th & 8th grade. I have not seen her since 1970 when my family moved from Phenix City, Al to St. Pete. Cindy's husband Glen drove us around the city and we walked through an old cemetery and many of the squares downtown including the square where the famous bench scene from the movie "Forest Gump" was filmed. We Spent a nice afternoon in Historic St. Mary's, Ga. It's a very small town but has a nice waterfront on the St. Mary's River. We had Gator Burgers and Mac & Cheese for lunch at a local diner. It was the warmest weather that we have had since we left St. Pete, so glad for that....see more photos in St. Mary's Ga. Album.

We left NASJAX this morning and have arrived at Kingsbay Submarine Station Ga (Home of the Trident Submarines). The Rv park here is very nice, there are fire pits, wifi and cable. We are not too far from a lake and there seem to be some pretty good walking trails. I have taken a few pictures and we will do some more exploring tomorrow
