...Farewell to the Islands. Weird out coach journey. Night in Surat Thani...
Left the Sanctuary today and to be honest with you for a bunch of new age hippies they're not a nice lot of people. Shame they don't practice what they preach. I think they like the concept of it all. Who honestly uses a laptop on the beach?! I couldn't believe they even charged me for the black bin bags I needed to use to stop my pack and bag getting soaked from the sudden down pour.
Talk about sods law it started chucking down a couple of hours before I had to leave. It'd been a fantastic sunny morning and I was loving my last day on the beach then it just turned grey and tipped down. Thankfully it stopped before I had to get my taxi boat to Haad Rin.
Spent the night in Surat Thani because of having to get my flight the next morning. Ended up freaking myself right out! I got to Surat Thani in the evening and it was proper sketchy. The woman in Koh Pha Ngan couldn't or wouldn't tell me where the bus stopped in Surat Thani after the ferry ride and neither could the coach driver.
Surat Thani isn't a backpacking area so there aren't many places to stay and as its quite large I was worried I was going to be dropped off in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere in a non-tourist area. Thankfully on the way into town I spotted one of the places I'd made a note of staying at and got a room for the night.
Was quite a stressful experience though as i didn't really know where I was going and unlike coaches in the UK passengers are more than happy to sit in the pitch black for an hour. So glad Dan put Shrek on my iPod.
