...Change of scenery at the Sanctuary: Jungle Hut...
Today I set off to Haad Thien, a secluded beach on the South East side of Koh Pha Ngan that you can only get to by taxi boat or a two hour jungle trek. I had heard some interesting things about the Sanctuary which is based there and wanted to try out some of the yoga and meditation they had there plus go for a general relax.
Talk about a difference from the Drop In Club. I've got a dorm room in the jungle on the side of a mountain that you can only get to by trekking up a steep path. The room is in a wooden structure and all it has is a double mattress, mosquito net, lock box and a window plus shared outside bathroom and toilet area. Although its basic its quite a nice experience and going to sleep to all the jungle and the geccos is pretty cool. Also the view from here is spectacular.
Was a bit disappointed when I first got here as they wasn't as friendly as I thought they would be but decided to chill out on a hammock and met Susan from Amsterdam.
Laying in the hammock by the beach was fantastic. Looking out to sea and seeing teh beautiful surroundings and hearing the waves and good chilled out music in the restaurant/bar area was great. Stayed there all afternoon chatting and reading the book I'd swapped with Bart.
In the evening I joined Susan and her friend Madeleine for dinner and had a lovely evening.
