Grand Canyon
We left Zion behind and drove the 2.5 hours to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Grand is such an understatement. It's truly hard to grasp the immense size of this natural phenomenon. In a world of capitalism, growth and development, how can something like this exist? And take up so much space? It was so fantastic to be surrounded by absolute nothingness as far as the eye could see (once we got away from the visitor center of course).
First stop on the tour was Point Imperial, the highest spot in the entire canyon, 8830 ft., giving it a unique vista and incredible perspective. From there we drove to Cape Royal and Angel's Window. Picnicking on top looking down the grand canyon has a humbling aftertaste. This vast space that exists amongst all the chaos and speed of our society is able to, just for a moment, ground you and remind you to slow down and appreciate the ride.
3 hours driving around the canyon and we felt like we had enough pictures of big red rocks to last a lifetime. It was off to Pheonix for a little city excitement!
