After such a long hot day yesterday it was great to get to Grenada and cool off. We stopped for a break along the expressway for a walk about, bathroom break and a chance for more refreshments. The statues of the saints and kings are everywhere. The tops of buildings always has a statue of some form or a tile mosaic showing either Jesus or the Virgin Mary. Paintings and mosaics are everywhere as well as colorful plant pots on the balconies. So we drove for an hour and arrived in the ancient city of Toledo. It started as a Roman city of approx 45,000 people, then after the "Big Fall" the Moors, Christians and the Jews took over. There are 11,000 people living within the old walled city today with narrow cobbled streets and a mixture of new stores and apts with the old walls and foundations. The wheels on the bus go round & round.....taking off for Toledo after a very good breakfast. The oranges and juice are terrific. Nothing like fresh. Enjoyed our time in Madrid but we're excited to get on with our tour. Brek is our guide & he seems like he'll be fun.
