So we drove for an hour and arrived in the ancient city of Toledo. It started as a Roman city of approx 45,000 people, then after the "Big Fall" the Moors, Christians and the Jews took over. There are 11,000 people living within the old walled city today with narrow cobbled streets and a mixture of new stores and apts with the old walls and foundations.
