Another Week in London
This passed week I have shopped, cooked, cleaned, washed, ironed etc etc.
Yes, I still have to do the mundane chores. We have also been back to Richmond
Park to see the large red deers. We walked for 2 hours before we decided we had
had enough and decided to leave by another gate would you believe the damm deer
were right there by the entrance. Anyway the exercise did us good, we came out a
gate where we had no idea where were as the park is huge. We asked some people
and discovered we were in Mortlake (we had started in Richmond and was in the
next suburb) Got instructions to the nearest railway station 8 minutes were were told
some 8 minutes, 1/2 hour later we were on the train to Richmond to get a bus back to
Kew.
We have also been back to Kew Gardens to see Kew Palace, Prince Charles had it
restored and this is where he held the Queens 80th Birthday. Very interesting place they
have left the third floor un restored which I found very interesting. It use to have
another wing but Queen Victoria had it knocked down because this is where they kept
poor King George 111 when he was very ill they thought he was mad but now due to science
they said he had porphyria which is a genetic disease. They had 15 kids yet only ended
up with one grand child which was Queen Victoria.
Kew Gardens is one of my favourite places it has been so interesting watching the gardens
change from end of Winter into spring and now summer it is one place I will really miss.
We have also been to Greenwich this week. We caught a boat from just near the famous eye.
That wheel makes 15,000 pounds every time it turns, makes a fortune for the city of London.
Millions of pounds a year, the queue is so long we can never be bothered to line up.
It took us 1 -1/2 hours to get to Greenwich not enough time to see it all so we are going
back, we didn't realise there was so much to see
As you can see the week fly by and we only have three left, and guess what I have another
bloody cold I cannot believe it this is the third since I have been here I hope its not as
bad as the last two - all those bl... English germs, I might add Robert has not caught
any.
