I'm back with a new blog!!!So here's a small segment on what's been happening. On the 14th of November I moved to my new family, the Laustsens. I had brunch with my first and second family together at the Laustsens. It was amazing. They had everything from pancakes to fresh buns to eggs and bacon. Once we were done and Liselotte was absolutely sure that I was ok, they left me to my new family. I took all day to get unpacked and then ended up going to bed early because I was exhausted. The next day I woke up not feeling to good and found out that I had caught the flu so I was in bed all day. The god part though was that I think it made my host mom, Merete, and I become closer, faster. She came in all day and checked on me, made sure I had water and brought me tea. She tucked me in like my mom used to do when I was little. She made me feel so at home and I am so grateful that I was with her when I got sick. I ended up staying home from school until Wednesday because of it.
The 21st of November we took a trip to Roskilde to see the Viking Ship museum. It was so cool. They had found ships that were sunk in a strait to keep people out when the Vikings lived where Roskilde now is. The boats had been overloaded with rocks and then sunk in a line across the strait. It wasn't the whole ships that they had found but the found pieces that they were able to reconstruct to find out what kind of boat it was and what they could have been used for. They had even recreated one of the ships and then sailed it to Dublin and then back again. It wasn't at the museum though unfortunately. They had a room with two fake ships for kids to play in and some clothes that they would have worn as well.If you want to check out more about it you can at http://www.vikingeskibsmuseet.dk/index.php?id=1246&L=1.After we walked to the Church in Roskilde where Denmark buries all their Kings and Queens when they have past away.It was really neat to see because they had so many different burial chambers from different centuries. That same night I went to IN the club with all the other Copenhagen exchangies. This is where my funny but not so funny story comes in from last time.I was supposed to leave the club and catch the train at 1:50 but I had to go to coat check to get all my stuff first.I left about a half hour early for coat check and even then I still didn't get to the front of the line by 1:40 so Megan said she would get my stuff and give it to me the next day.So ma and Brendan had to sprint for the train station for me to be able to catch the train.I think that was the fastest and longest I have run so hard.Even with me running that fast and getting weird looks the whole way to the train station I missed my train by literally 5 seconds.I got to the bottom of the stairs and my train pulled away.So I ended up having to sleep at Brendan's house that night. The next morning I woke up and called Megan to see when we could meet to get my stuff.Turned out that she gave my bag to her drunk friend to hold for her while she went to get a ticket and she ended up putting it down while she was waiting and then forgot it there.Well it wasn't at the lost and found and it wasn't in the train station anymore so I was out of my I-Pod, train card, wallet, coat, hairbrush and boots.Well I was getting phone calls all day from a number that I didn't recognize and so when I finally called them I found out that someone had found my bag and was trying to get it back to me.Well, it wasn't fully in tact when I got it back but I did get it back, minus my I-Pod and my credit card.I got everything else back though. So now you know the story of how I lost my stuff.
On Thursday, the 26th, I had a Rotary Thanksgiving dinner at my school. The dinner wasn't very good though, the turkey was dry and the vegetables were under or over cooked and there weren't even mashed potatoes!!The dessert also wasn't very good.I don't even know what it was, it didn't taste like pumpkin pie but I think that's what it was supposed to be.The entertainment was good though. The exchange students were the entertainment so I did a play about language school with some people and there was a play based on the princess and the pea story but instead of a pea it was a Danish-English dictionary and she woke up able to speak Danish. There was also some singing and some instruments and a few speeches on things that we have done since we have got here.Overall it was a fun night even with the food not being very good.
On Friday I went shopping with Megan and then saw New Moon with Merete and Sigrid, my host sister. It was amazing! I think it might have been better than the first one, and that usually doesn't happen. It could also have to do with the fact that I LOVE Jacob and not Edward like everyone else.
On Saturday my friend Aaron ended up coming to Copenhagen so we hung out and Sigrid came along too.We went to Tivoli and rode the rides there for a while. One of the first rides we went on was a drop ride like Drop Zone in Toronto's Wonderland and I ended up somehow trashing my phone. The girl found it after we got off and said that it must have dropped when we were on the ride.I think it dropped out of my pocket and someone stepped on it because there was no way for it to have dropped out of my pocket and off the chair because it was a bucket seat.Anyways, I ended up trashing my phone but I still had my SIM card so I just transferred it into a phone that Peter, my host dad, had that no one was using. After we were done at Tivoli we went to Nyhavn and had lunch. We then went to Christiania but it was getting dark and Sigrid and Aaron started feeling uncomfortable there so we left. Then Aaron had to go home because he lives on Fyn, which is a different island in Denmark.
Well that concludes this segment of my life in Denmark. I'll try to get another blog up soon! Love you all and miss you!!
