I know, I know. I haven't been writing but I've just been so busy and Internet connection has not been good.
Anyways I'll start back at September 18th.
Everyone from my district got invited to go see an artsy tribute to the Beetles...for free!! There was only one catch...we had to wear our rotary blazers and serve chips to all the guests before the show and during the break and then serve wine after the show. It wasn't a bad job but people got mad if they had been asked too many times. The show was absolutely amazing though! It was like a musical but all the songs were Beetles songs. It was such a good show and the costumes and stage were amazing. Unfortunately there was a 'no cameras allowed' rule so I can't show you any pictures. After the show and when we were done serving, all of the exchange student went to a Viking bar and hung out for a while. Well, I'm not used to the 24-hour clock system so when my host parents said the last train leaves at 00:30 I thought that meant 1:30 for some reason…dumb me because Dad uses the 24-hour system. So I ended up going over to one of the oldies (which are people who have already been here for half a year) and staying at her house for the night.
The next day (Saturday 19) I went to the zoo with Mika. We had a lot of fun and it was a really relaxing day. When I finally got home I was so tired that I spent the rest of the weekend in the house with my family.
Ok well nothing really happened during the week except school and language school, so I'll skip ahead to the Friday the 25th.
That weekend we had a get together with all the exchange students in my district in a scouts cabin. That day (Friday) I didn't have school and neither did Mika so she came over to my house for the day and we sat around and talked and watched TV…it was an easy day. Later we met up with Megan at the main train station and caught a train to the airport. We had to get off one stop from the airport but unfortunately the train we got on didn't stop there so we had to get off at the airport, run up and over to the other platform and just catch our train. The doors shut just as we jumped on. So we went back to our stop, got off the train, and started to walk towards where we were meeting. We got to the road and there was no crosswalk!! So we had to run across when there was an opening in the cars and almost kill ourselves. We later found out that there was a tunnel under the road. Anyways we got there and everyone had all their bags and sleeping bags and padding. From there we had to walk for 20 minutes to the camp with all this stuff. People didn't pack to walk. Thankfully I packed light so I only had one bag with everything in it including my sleeping bag and padding. When we got to the cabin we found out that we only had 2 bathrooms for all 35 of us. And ONE SHOWER! It was a nightmare. The meals were amazing though. We had roast beef and ham and frikadeller (a flat, pan-fried dumpling of minced meat, often likened to the Danish version of meatballs) and salads and so many other amazing foods. Breakfast we had fresh rolls with nutella and jam and cereal. It was great. The second day we played games including tug-of-war, potato sacks races and rundbold, which is an altered version of baseball. It was awesome my team wasn't great but we won half of the games. It was fun though and that's all that matters. In the afternoon we had to come up with fundraising ideas for a rotary project call shelter box. My team thought we could do an international fair with food and entertainment from all the different countries that the exchange students are from. Back to the shower situation . . . when I went to go have my shower all we had left was cold water. All the South Americans complained and complained and complained. Us North Americans sucked it up and dealt with it. The South Americans response to this was… YOUR USED TO IT! Lol they think it's cold all year round up north. Anyways the weekend was awesome and we all had a great time, so it was all good.
Ok, so let's skip the week again because there's not much to say about that. School's getting better though. The teachers are getting better at getting me involved in what the class is doing.
Let's skip to Friday 2nd of October!!
Yay! I have officially been here for 2 months. That night I went out to celebrate…and also because my school was having it's party too lol. The party was insane. You had to be on the list to get in and show an ID and there were big scary bouncers patrolling outside and inside and they had bars (yes they served beer, but no I really didn't drink! I don't like beer) set up all around inside and a stage with a DJ and crazy lights. It was amazing. That was the best party I have ever been to. The only thing was people were really drunk so they kept spilling their drinks on the floor and falling over. It was ridiculous and so funny; I don't even want to guess what the average blood alcohol level was. It was a good night though.
On Saturday I had a nice relaxing day at home with my host parents. We played a game called Galathea and it was in Danish so I got to practice reading Danish words and I tried to understand as much as I could and I could understand quite a lot. That night wasn't so relaxing, I went out to a club called IN with a few of my friends. It was awesome. We had a lot of fun talking and dancing all night and just having fun. Megan came back over to my house after and we stayed up for a while and talked.
The next day we woke up late and got ready to go to Copenhagen for a Rotex meeting but after we got there we got a call telling us that it was cancelled so we just stayed in town and hung around with Mika and Brendan. We went to Nyhavn and King's Garden and around town.
The following Tuesday, I had no school because the schools were all protesting the government for taking away money from the schools so all I had to do was go to language school but then my language school teacher was at the protest so I didn't have to be at language school. I could have gone to the protest or stay at school with a substitute teacher, so I stayed with the sub because it was kind of cold outside and I didn't want to stand outside.
Well that's about all I have to say about the last few weeks so I'm going to let my hands rest now. I'm going out to the club tonight with all my exchange friends in Copenhagen so the next time I write I'll tell you how that was. Jeg elsker dig!!

Aunt Barb Dec 02/09 Good Morning Sarena, Hope this finds you well and in the Christmas Spirit. Uncle Larry and I are well and busy working everyday. The contractors have finished the renovations to the house and we are enjoying the new windows, doors etc. Have you moved to your new host family as yet? If you have, what part of the city are you in? Darcy, Aunt Becky's son is arriving home for Christmas on Dec 15 and on Dec 20 cousin Monica, Auntie MaryAnn's daughter is arriving. I haven't sent you a note for a couple of weeks and I feel I have been falling down on the job. We had 3 weeks that were very hectic here as Auntie MaryAnn ended up with pnenumonia and she spent a few days at the hospital on a daily basis with difficulty breathing. But she is on the mend now and is alot like her old self. She finished her 4th round of Chemo on the 26th of Nov and her 5th is due on Dec 10. Everything is going smoothly with her now so here's hoping her last 2 chemo's go off without a hitch. Auntie MaryAnn is one wonderful, amazing women who is very postive about her Cancer treatments. I know with the Christmas season fast approaching you might be feeling a little out of sorts but remember that you are loved and thought off often and this is a remarkable opportunity for you. The next 6 months will slip by with speed all its own. Keep writing as I enjoy your thoughts and comments on your great adventure. Love Aunt Barb
