This weekend I was invited back to Jeju Island by KOCIS (Korean Culture and Information Service) for an all expense paid trip with a group of bloggers from TheKoreaBlog. Originally they had offered me a plane ticket home to Toronto for October as the most active blogger, but I said I cant take time off school and I had just been in July so could they reimburse me for that instead. The two other winners had also already left korea.

Alternatively, they came up with this three day weekend trip which would be a good chance to spend time with fellow bloggers and see another side of Jeju from my first trip in May of this year. Due to a mix up in travel arrangement they had put me on a friday nite flight from daegu thinking I was working that day, even though my school had arranged to give me the day off.

With my luck and rain, the very day I decide to travel it decides to rain in daegu. It hardly ever rains in daegu. To make matters worse, they dark grey skies waited till 3pm for me to walk out from my school to start a drizzle which would turn into a downpour.

Luckily I made it to the airport and got inside before the worst hit. From inside the terminal you could see it lashing down so there was some turbulence taking off and we were delayed by 10 mis. The flight was a short 50 min ride and I was met at Jeju airport by a PR liaison from The Korea Herald who would be acompanying us for the trip.

We took a cab ride to Jungmun on the south side of the island where everyone was already gathered for dinner. This was a self serve buffet with an assortment of korean, chinese, and western dishes, as well as a vast array of desserts. I tried to have a light dinner given that there would be a lot of food on this trip. They also had bakers using fresh dough in pizza ovens at the back.

After dinner we boarded our charter bus to go back to our hotel in Jeju City on the north side of the island. I had actually walked past this area on my first trip as I recognized it the next morning. The hotel was a very luxurious oceanfront hotel. My room number was 649 which is the name of the lottery back home in Ontario, and I was about to hit the jackpot with my room.

The room was quite large, double the size of my apartment. There were two double beds taking half the room, another half of the room was a massive living area. There was a giant 42 inch flat screen tv which had BBC World so I was finally able to have a good news channel as I dont have CNN in my current apartment.

Surprisingly there was also another spare room which could fit a double bed. It had no furnishings so was possibly an extra bedroom for children. Unfortnately the sink in the bathroom wouldnt drain although the bathroom was also quite nice with its own shower cubicle. Another problem I had is that I couldnt turn the tv off. The power button on the remote had an off switch but it wouldnt respond although the other controls did. In frustration I had to look for the plug on the wall and pull it out!

As I then tried to sleep I could hear lots of 'humping' something I've heard quite a lot of in korea. Lets just say the walls were thin and leave it at that.... !
