Adventures of a Global Wanderer
I kept hearing about the Airport Jimjilbang (sleeping room) in the basement level so was quite curious to find it. A common question is if you have an early morning flight are there cheap hostels or hotels nearby. Unfortunately there is nothing and Incheon is at least half hour out from Seoul on the Express Train but the Airport Spa provides an easy solution. I didnt want to pay to enter so used my Daegu City Media Pass to gain access. At first they weren't sure but then agreed to let me go in and take photos. The attendent was showing me around and I made sure to show him in the viewscreen I was not taking pics of people who were in the nude. Like most jimjilbangs first there are shoe lockers, then changing rooms with regular size lockers. Then there is the common bathing area with three large pools and communal showers. They also had private tempered glass shower stalls as well. There was a sauna and steam room. For sleeping they had a Korean style communal sleeping room with floor mats. However, they also had private rooms with single beds for more privacy. There were also private massage rooms and a common lounge area with departure boards on the monitors. At first they were happy to show me around but when he returned to the front desk and told his colleague she wasnt too happy. She was saying I needed to get a media pass. I explained I already have the pictures and asked where to get the pass. After calling their boss they asked me to delete my pictures. I agreed not to on the basis I would not print any of them. They were kind enough to send me a file of publicity photos so I have used them in this entry except for the last four. At the front reception they will store your checked luggage. They also have security boxes for small items. The spa is quite reasonably priced both for an overnight stay and private sleeping rooms (12,000w - 20,000w) below $20.
