A few blocks east of the Indian quarter was Kuching's Chinatown. I'm not sure why this neighbourhood was so dead when it could be bustling with tourists just behind the waterfront and picking up the day trade during the fasting month

There was a covered food court area facing a small local temple. I couldnt make out any of the menu items and only Chinese people were eating here

The side streets were decorated with lanterns and there were scenic views back looking at the State Parliament

Towards the end was another small temple

Across was the Chinese History Museum. Someone was locking up even though the museum still had 15 mins to close. When I showed my watch he said he needed to be at the main office so has to leave. It was a Sunday and didnt seem that busy with tourists

Across was the Tua Pek Kong Temple, the most famous of Kuching's temples. The artwork and style were very similar to ones I'd seen in Taiwan. The outer doorways were painted to give a distinctive look whether the doors remain open or closed
