Adventures of a Global Wanderer
Moving on from the museum district I now had time to explore Kuching old town not worrying about museum closing times. Facing the City Mosque was a Sikh Gurdwara.
Diagonally across was the large City Mosque showing the diversity of how many religions live close together. The outside was a cemetery while people were cooling off inside
Following the street down led to Indian Street a covered outdoor bazaar. This was mostly ladies clothing but I was also trying to find some sandals but didnt see anything of acceptable quality or in my size.
The rest of the market was mainly oriented to womens clothing
I made it back to the big shopping centre at the Padang to cool off and look for some lunch. As it was still fasting hours I had to see where other people were buying food. Mostly the Chinese were eating with the Malay's I suspect fasting.
I remembered a chicken waffle place where I saw other people being served. The waffle was 4.30Rm ($1.40) but did not come with any lettuce or tomatoes as in the picture and was just some chicken from a carton heated in a microwave.
Outside the shopping centre was the colonial style post office and textile museum. I went in the museum to wander around some more
Starting off with showing weavers and a lady at a sewing machine there were various styles of traditional clothing
The small building had three floors and was interesting with the many styles of clothing ranging from traditional rural dress to more Indian influenced styles
