Since it was still the month of fasting in Malaysia I had to wait till about 6.50pm before the end of the fast and buying something to eat. As I look Malay it would look very bad if I was to get some food before that even though this is a touristy town and they have ethnic chinese that live here too and are not fasting.

My hostel was facing the waterfront so I went for a walk before some rain started. There was a Sarawak Cultural Museum still open which I went in to get out of the rain. Behind the museum was a giant shopping mall which I went in to look for some food.

I found a food court and ordered a sweet and sour fish with rice for 8Rm ($2.50). I had also prebooked a bus for the next day at the hostel to take me to the Sarawak Cultural Village.

Some observations I noticed is that they have left hand drive and three pin plugs like in the UK. Also being a former British colony everyone can speak some english so there is no need for ESL teachers as I rarely see jobs for Malaysia posted.
