Adventures of a Global Wanderer
Today was the Eid celebration (called Hari Raya in Malaysia) to mark the end of the month of fasting. There is a morning prayer held at Mosques to mark the end of the fasting. Fortunately I was able to find a local Mosque close to the hostel yesterday where I would be able to go in the morning and pray.
They told me the prayer was 7.45am but when I got there at 7.30 the placed was already packed full, the rear overflow was full, and it was just standing room at the back waiting for a space to open up.
Everyone was dressed in their finest from young to old and I was just there in a casual backpacking t-shirt. I'm sure they all knew I wasnt local from my features and clothes.
It was nice being in the covered outdoors behind the Mosque rather than inside as we were getting some morning breezes.
By the end of the prayer the speakers broke so we werent able to do the final dua (wish). It was nice to see everyone in their shiny clothes and to celebrate Eid in a Muslim country for the first time
