Adventures of a Global Wanderer
Having rested and slept a bit at the hostel to avoid the midday heat I now went out late afternoon for something to eat. I wanted to visit Signal Hill behind the hostel and some light drizzle had began. Typically it rains after 6pm after a long days heat
After climbing the long staircase up I met some Koreans and we chatted in Korean a bit. I then returned to the waterfront to find some food.
During the day only the Chinese restaurants were serving and only Chinese people eating due to the fasting. Fortunately today was the last day and from tomorrow all the restaurants should be open.
I continued walking past the seafood restaurants I had seen on the first day to see what else there was further down. There was a Filipino market selling items I wasn't sure what they were, along with roadside tailors along the sidewalk doing clothes alterations.
Not understanding the food again I saw a self serve buffet style stall so took some items from there. I had a fried piece of chicken and fish, some fish steak curry, bbq chicken, veggies, and noodles for 9Rm ($3). I was trying to ask if I could add another item to round it to 10Rm
I didn't have any cutlery to eat with so wanted to goto a food court to have somewhere to sit and find some utensils. There was a big shopping mall so I went to their food court and waited for the fast to end before 7pm
Afterwards the rain was coming heavy so I started looking in a backpack shop for a new backpack. They had nice knock offs from China and I was going to buy one for $20. Then when I opened it the stitching wasn't good inside with a false bottom so it would tear after heavy use.
Back at the hostel everyone must think I was a Malay as they were all 'white foreigners' and nobody had spoken to me. The owners were Filipino and were helping me with details for tomorrow as it was the Muslim holiday and we didn't know if buses would be running or how I wold get to the airport for my flight.
The room next door had their door left open. There was a couple and they had so many bags and clothes flung everywhere it looked like a tornado had hit their room. The owners must think I am so clean and tidy when I check out.
