Adventures of a Global Wanderer
Finally back in Malaysia I went looking for food where prices are cheaper than Brunei. A short walk from the hostel was a seafront promenade where the they were selling lots of seafood items
The town had a different feel and was much more touristy with hotels and shopping malls. There were even some Korean tourists wandering around
The seafood promenade had many seafood restaurants that were busy with locals for the end of the daily fast. I was trying to figure out what to eat but I didn't understand any of the menu items, nor how much they were
My stomach was still funny from last nites Iftar buffet in Brunei so I was looking for something mild and simple. A lady that spoke English in one of the stalls offered a tuna steak for 10Rm ($3) and small rice for 1.50Rm (.50) though it was big enough for a meal in itself.
The other grilled fish items seemed delicious if my stomach were better but they were also double in size and price and based on weight. There was also a small jug on the table, not for drinking water, but to wash your hands as everyone was using their fingers.
Back in the hostel the shower had very low pressure. All rooms face the common area and two girls were sitting there talking which I could hear clearly in my room so quite soon I knew her entire life story
