Adventures of a Global Wanderer
My entry ticket to Kumamoto Castle was a combo with the residence of one of the feudal clans nearby. It was quite a walk getting over as the grounds of the castle and surrounding areas are quite large. It was like the residence in Kyoto I had visited where photos were not allowed. This time there was no problem taking photos. The house is made in a zig-zag design around sculpted gardens. They used dark wood for an English Tudor style look again but the rooms were traditional Japanese style. The house is about 400 years old and was home to the local feudal clan Leaving the house I passed by another temple as I cut across back thru the castle to my hotel. My route also brought me the a small tourist village that was included in the other combo ticket to the castle that I didnt buy. This one had many tourist shops and restaurants made in historical style. Inside admission was required to a small history musuem and some sort of childrens animation show. The musuem might have been interesting but I was getting tired and needed to eat. I made it to my hotel nearby and was able to get some rest.
