Adventures of a Global Wanderer
My flight from Toronto to Iceland was 9pm to 2am Toronto time (6am local time) and I hadn't slept much on the flight. After the morning exploring I went back to the hotel and crashed till about 5pm. Then I wanted to do an evening walk and see the Cathedral beside the hotel all lit up in the evening.
Entrance up the Cathedral tower was 700K ($7) and certainly worth it. Having walked around I can now understand the sights. There was an elevator so no stairs except for the final peak.
I had nice clear weather and was able to see in all directions. You can see the approach road leading to the church, the city airport (not the international one), the city lake, and other landmarks.
There is another observation deck, the dome shaped Perlan, outside of downtown I was hoping to visit the next day for a different view.
Along with the National Museum of Iceland this was the other highlight of the day.
