We were the first to get to Musgrave and as usual the last to leave, who's in a hurry anyway? Hit the road and found a reasonably easy drive back to Lakeland, there was 2 well worn and smoothed out tyre tracks pretty much all the way. There obviously wasn't as much rain south of Musgrave. The traffic northbound was quite heavy and we lost count of the cars flying past us, I guess the school holidays up here and peak season means it gets quite busy.
We were both very pleased to see the bitumen at Lakeland and celebrated no more corrugations and mud for a while with a hamburger and a milkshake, damn that was good!
Drove down to Cairns through Mareeba and arrived at the trusty caravan park to set up for a few days while we regroup and sort a couple of things out i.e. car service, roof racks fixed, new UHF arial (that Lee snapped off on a tree) etc. After that we head off again to check out the Atherton Tablelands and surrounds for a week and a bit, we hear there's some awesome coffee plantations up there so I guess we wont be sleeping for a few days.
