Just back from our tour around Vienna. It is spectacular, beautiful and amazing!!! The buildings are gorgeous - beautifully maintained and the whole place has a feeling of grandeur. It's wonderful to be in cities that are clean and proudly presented to the tourist population - not something we've seen everywhere!! After our morning coach and walking tour, we wandered off on our own to soak up the atmosphere. The photo is of Bwian in a Viennese coffee house, where we had strudel and Sachertorte - very yummy. We then spent a couple of hours in the 'Albertina', a Viennese palace that is presented as an art gallery and retained state rooms. We went there especially because there is a Monet and Picasso collection on show. It was very impressive with at least 25 Picasso paintings and a goodly number of his ceramics work too. So after wandering around there and really enjoying artwork including the Monets, Matisses etc and the state rooms, we went for a wander around the city and found a place to have some authentic wiener schnitzel for lunch. It was great! Now back on board and looking forward to our evening in the city at a concert - a little Strauss and Mozart!! It's a day of the arts for us!! We are such culture vultures!!!
