What a beautiful day and a very special night! After a light early dinner we made our way to the Palais Auersperg in the city. It is s gorgeous palace built in 1706 and actually the place (and even the room!!!) where Mozart, the Strausses and other upcoming musicians honed their skills in their early days!! A 10 piece chamber orchestra played throughout the evening and were joined by a couple of ballet dancers from time to time and also a couple doing operetta!! It was fantastic, with most of the pieces very familiar. The Blue Danube waltz was the highlight for me, remembering this from when I was about 8, never considering that I'd get to hear it here, in a palace, by The Danube!!! (although Bwian and I are still looking for the 'blue' part!!!). We are blessed!!! The photo is of Bwian at interval, enjoying a little champagne!! At our afters drinks back on the ship, we made some new friends from Denver, who spent a year in Brisbane in the early nineties when Reece (the woman) was on teacher exchange at Everton Hills. Small world!!! Spectacular day!!! Gute Nacht!!! Xxx
