Melk is a beautiful little town of just over 2000 people. There is little there other than the abbey and a little cobbled main street with a few shops and cafes. This 1000 year old monastery/school/church is quite incredible, having been fully restored over the past 30 or so years. After touring through the abbey we wandered down through the centre of the town. Curiously, we found a place for a refreshing ale!! As we just were approaching the bridge of the canal, we turned to see this picture post card view. Just beautiful!!! On board, we've just had a strudel making demonstration. Although we have had recipes distributed, don't hold your breath waiting for my culinary efforts when we return. The pastry looked very tricky!!!! :-) Still having a wonderful time and we're both very well!! Xxxx
