Deb's Adventures
I have lived in Colorado for 20 years and have never hiked the infamous Hanging Lake trail. Eric and I decided since we were out this way and we should go hike it. Hanging lake is just on the East side of Glenwood Springs about an hour from Grand Junction.
This turned out to be even better then I imagined. It is a 1.2 mile hike pretty much straight up the side of a cliff/mountain. It took us nearly an hour to reach the top. All I can say is WOW!! I hope the pictures do it justice. We also went the extra 50 yards to see the "Spouting Rock." Totally worth it.
After our hike we had a little picnic lunch and drove to Steamboat Springs for the night. We didn't really have time to do much there. We mostly just wanted to break up the drive. We got to the Holiday Inn and discovered there was a youth hockey tournament going on and there were at least a million 10-12 year old boys in the hotel......great!!! The front desk upgraded us to a suite and tried to move us away from the kids. The room was beautiful but there was a hockey game going on in the hallway and a barking dog in the room below. We had originally planned on ordering room service but decided we might as well go down to the bar and eat. It was quieter plus the front desk gave us a bunch of free drink coupons. Dinner was actually pretty good. By the time we got back to our room the hallway hockey game was over and the owners of the annoying yappy dog had come back. We enjoyed a little quiet time and went to bed early.
