Deb's Adventures
Today was a ridiculously fun day. We started early with a 6:15 alarm but it was totally worth it. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Longmont last night knowing that our night of sleep would be short. Our friend Nathan met us at 7am and we carpooled to Keith and Kevin's home in Denver. We had a quick cup of coffee and all piled into the van and drove to Larksburg for Renaissance Festival.
Renaissance is a great place to people watch and the freaky people did not disappoint. We arrived just in time for the King's welcome speech outside the castle gates. We wandered around looking in the shops for a while and enjoying the costumes.
We did see all the big shows including Combat Jousting, Puke and Snot and the Washing Well Wenches. Always cheesy and always fun. At around 2:30 we decided to head back to Denver. On our way towards the exit we happened to catch an Endangered Cat Show. There was a beautiful juvenile Snow leopard on stage that caught our attention. We all stopped in our tracks and decided to stay and watch the show. The cats were incredible and we were able to walk right up to the front row. I love when you accidentally happen on to something really cool.
After the Cat show we made our way back to the car and headed back North towards Denver. We decided to stop at the Black Crown for a little Happy Hour. The Black Crown is a really cool bar in South Denver. It is an old Victorian style house that is an antique mall and piano bar combined. We sat on the patio and relaxed for a couple hours.
We went back to Keith and Kevin's to freshen up and continue Happy Hour. We had a 7pm reservation at Le Central, a French restaurant within walking distance of the house. On the way Lesley and I had to stop and use the toilet. Very fortunately for us we found a couple beside the sidewalk. (see photo) We had a lovely dinner which included mussels, french wine and a lot of joking and laughing.
After dinner we walked back to the apartment and had a little dance party. Keith took on the role of DJ and played only vinyl records while wearing a lobster hat. I am not sure why he wore the lobster hat but Keith is often a mystery. A good time was had by all. I wish every day could be this fun.
