It is our last day! We rose early to drive south to Seward, which is on the Kenai peninsula-about 130 miles from Anchorage. Due to construction, we are allowing 3 hours. At 9:45am we leave the Hilton hotel and catch the Holland America bus to the airport to rent a car from Avis. We use a Tour Alaska coupon to get a free day. Anyone going to Alaska should purchase this book from the Alaska tour site. We saved 200.00 with coupons from it, using it for the Juneau salmon fishing trip, rental car, zoo, and glacier tour. Today we have until 11:30 to do as we please and then we will ride the Alaskan Rail in a glass dome car to Anchorage. We sleep in and then catch the shuttle to the visitors center in the park. We had 2 excursions today that were great! We rented a jeep with Becky and Jack and went exploring. First to Stampede road, in hopes of seeing wildlife and a glimpse of Mt. McKinley. Only 20% of the park visitors actually get to see the peak due to clouds and weather. We lucked out and got a great view of it. It is another gorgeous day as we leave Fairbanks for Denali national park by glass domed railway. It is a 4 hour trip. We eat a delicious breakfast of skillet eggs and roasted vegetables, biscuits, fruit, and juice in the dining car on the first level. Our seats are on the second level.
