It is another gorgeous day as we leave Fairbanks for Denali national park by glass domed railway. It is a 4 hour trip. We eat a delicious breakfast of skillet eggs and roasted vegetables, biscuits, fruit, and juice in the dining car on the first level. Our seats are on the second level. It is beautiful scenery and a guide gives you history and site information along the route. There is also a nice bar. Gary gets a Bloody Mary, while I opt for a strawberry smoothie smothered with whipped cream. Once we arrive by train at the park depot we are shuttled to the McKinley Chalets by bus- around 1 mile from the park entrance in McKinley village. The room has windows that wind open, and a screened small porch. We see and hear the river just behind us. After we settle in, we shuttle to the shops and explore. At 7 pm we go to the Salmon Bake restaurant -highly recommended and established for 25 years. We split the trio with steak, grilled salmon and halibut. Best meal yet!!
