Tuesday 3 April. The Day to ride from Victor Harbor to Adelaide:
My moto guzzi was like a bike with emphysema….she wouldn't start at first and then Dave took her for a test run around the block, as something was wrong. Missing like mad, stalling at corners…not happy Jan! And we paid a Fortune for her service! Dave made a phone call to the garage that did the service yesterday and they blamed "bad fuel" till we told them that we bought the fuel from them. Oops. Back to Strathalbyn with a jumpy bike…she got a bit smoother as I got through town but I was not happy riding her for the 54km back to the mechanic. Dave asked him how come it took 5 hours charging us for the service….not happy, etc. Mechanic fixed the timing of the bike, blamed the Guzzi book for instructions. Dave rode the bike round Strathalbyn to make sure she was good now, and yes, all fixed. But still we felt we paid too much…we were charged at least 2 hours labour too much and we won't be back or recommend to others, unfortunately. They wouldn't reconsider….Still, that's life….grrrr! At least Gracie Guzzi is riding like a dream again! Left us with a bad taste though.
Then off we both rode to Adelaide, not too far away. Set up at the Levi Caravan Park, 5km out of Adelaide city. Very nice place too, with beautiful old fashioned gardens and a heritage stone house in front of our tent. And the Torrens River runs along behind us. This is the life! For the first time we had to take an unpowered site but there is a great campers kitchen And a nice comfy TV room, so we can use power there.
