A final surprise in Mt Surprise - 29th September 2012
About 20 Ulyssians from Cairns and Townsville turned up in Mt Surprise for a long weekend overnighter. We had booked in to have a roast meal in the big shed and looked like being the only ones there until the other Ulyssians discovered that the Pub was not doing any meals that night. The couple running the place where we had booked in for the roast meal somehow at short notice managed to change a roast for two into roast meals for 20+ and boy was it good.
So we got to share our meal and our stories with a bunch of "Growing Old Disgracefully" people. To top it all off the owner decided to do an impromptu snake show with a very large Black Headed Python. The talk was great and both Trish and I got to hold the snake for a long time. Usually at snake shows you get a small touch but I had the snake called "Clancy" for a good 15 minutes. That was partly due to the fact that of all the Ulyssians there apart from one woman from Cairns, no one else wanted to hold it and all cringed at the thought. All the better for those of us that love critters like that.
Dave the Charmer.
