So we got picked up pretty early from our hotel in Oaxaca by Roberto and Roberto..nice and easy. Roberto is the driver and Roberto is the nephew of national cycling champion Pedro Martinez (who we later found out was not actually an olympian as even though he was part of the team to go to Seol, he hadnt dont his military service, so couldnt get a passport..). We drove for a while just to get out of town and then jumped on our pushys.. Pretty flat day, not too many hills, back roads (although i think they are the only roads) between some little villages, cycling Roberto explained the sport of climbing a greasy telegraph pole for cash, an annual event in most town... kids apparently chase a greased pig with money strapped to it and fire crackers on its tail..Animals certainly arent treated the same over here, for instance if you dont want your donkey or goats to get away, you just tie their 2 front legs together..looks frustrating!! However, weirdly tho, like most over populated places inthe world, there are dogs everywhere, the goverment however has a free vaccination program for them..nice.
We ended the ride at a little Comedora (kinda like a restaurant but more like someones house - theyre everywhere), had a great feed and finished it off with Mescal (of course), infused with Marajuana (quite common) and some infused with coral snake and yes they are venemous.
Dinner was in town, hectic markets, no more mezcal but a couple of beers. Tomorrow apparently is a tough day.
