San Sebastian is high up in the mountains, this may seem like a trivial fact to most..not to us. When we started riding in the morning, we were not high up in the mountains..This results in a simple equation...47km of nearly completely up hill riding..steep stuff too and most of it in the dirt.
It was so nice to finish today, i mean the scenery on the way was spectacularly beautiful however there wasnt much talking and it was hot, we just had to put our heads down and ride. Super tasty cold beers at the end made it easier.
This town is also very small and has very steep hills, we are staying with a family who has a spare couple of rooms that were built for visiting doctors and stuff who would turn up for a couple of days each week due to the town not having its oen doctor.
We got cooked some tasty home made dinner and breaky, tortillas, beans, chilli, eggs.. Standard fare really, for breaky. Dinner was Tamales, which was way better than the crappy version we got given on our alaskan airways flight into mexico city.
Fun fact abou this town, most folks have no phone and there certainy isnt any reception..There is a town phone in the town centro. Like a lot of towns announcements etc are made over the huge loadspeakers that everyone can hear...easily..sometimes music is played too. This town is fun because you can hear announcements like - Pablo, you have a phone call in 5 mins, then if you look carefully - you can see Pablo sprinting up these super steep streets to the town phone.. They are all super fit..
Tomorrow is longer - 70km, but mainly down, it has to be - there isnt any more up left and i dont have it in me. Jess might, i dont..
