So we left Franz Joseph behind us, with one more memory to lodge, my first ever game of paintball! And my god does that hurt! I tell you now I could never be in the Marines, I was shockingly bad! I got shot so many times I had bruises all over me! One because one of the girls got carried away and shot me from close range, oh my god did that hurt. Got her back by shooting her in the arse! Ha! I was getting really into it though, running and jumping over logs and long grass in the deep jungle environment! Funny stuff! Anyhow it was off to Wanaka next. On the way we stopped at a beach where hundreds of dolphins were playing in the waves, cool sight to watch!. Now what to say about Wanaka, could anything beat Franz Joseph? Well in terms of doing crazy ice hiking no! But I have definitely found the place I would live in New Zealand if I lived here. Wanaka is gorgeous. Set in between the mountains, with a huge glacier lake just by the side of the town centre. It was simply stunning, a real hidden paradise. Mark and I had a couple of beers then Paul and I went Pier jumping into the lake. It was freezing, so much so that when I hit the water, I lost my breath! Arhhh you should see the place it is stunning, I love having mountains surrounding me, I could so retire here forever.
The night ended in a reggae bar where I got the DJ to play Damien Marley in tribute to Julian! And we had to say goodbye to Zoe and Rachel, both who I got on really well with. Sad but true! Also made a new friend while chilling to the mellow beats, a girl called Danielle who was on the bus, cool little girl from Reading, very quiet though.
I really didn’t wasn’t to leave this place I absolutely loved Wanaka.
